This print is drawn from objects that quietly accompany me through cancer treatment and recovery. Each item carries a personal meaning: a lava lamp from an earlier chapter of my life in Germany, a porcelain elephant from childhood, and a passport that represents distance from family I could not see. A medical kidney model and daily medication reference my illness directly, while a sketchbook I used to draw strangers on the train after surgery reflects how drawing helped me stay connected to life. Small comforts appear throughout, cereal and popsicles I could tolerate when my body was sensitive, headphones for escape, a book lent by a friend whose mother also had cancer, and an orange hat worn on my first real trip after diagnosis. Plants symbolize life and learning to care for myself, and a telephone represents both separation and connection.
This print is deeply personal, and all proceeds are donated to a cancer charity.
